The useful part of the tactic
The old SEO tactic says: publish a “best tools” list, put yourself first, repeat the same angle on LinkedIn, YouTube, and guest posts, and wait for AI Overviews to notice. The mechanism is real, but the lazy version is weak: AI systems reward corroborated answers, not self-awarded medals.
The VectorGap version is stricter. Choose the prompt you want to own, answer it better than the current sources, and create enough independent context around that answer that AI systems can verify the claim from more than one place.
Start with answer ownership, not vanity ranking
Pick one prompt cluster where your brand deserves to be visible: “best GEO tools for agencies”, “how to audit AI visibility”, “AI citation readiness checklist”, or a similar buyer-intent query.
Write the page as a decision asset. Define the category, explain who each option is for, state your criteria, disclose where your product fits, and include competitors without pretending they do not exist. The goal is not manipulation. The goal is to make your page the clearest source for the answer.
Build the corroboration layer
AI Overviews and answer engines are less likely to trust a claim that only exists on your own website. Republish the core framework in different formats without duplicating the same article word for word: a short LinkedIn article, a YouTube explainer with transcript, a partner post, a podcast talking point, or a directory profile.
Each asset should repeat the same factual spine: category definition, selection criteria, use cases, limitations, and proof. Consistency matters more than volume.
What to avoid
Do not publish a fake “top 10” where your own product is always first and every competitor is a straw man. That may rank briefly, but it is poor public truth and weak brand strategy.
Do not promise AI Overview inclusion in two weeks. The right claim is more boring and more durable: if your answer is clearer, better sourced, and repeated across trusted surfaces, you improve the odds that AI systems use it.
Execution checklist
One prompt cluster selected. One canonical answer page created. One independent social/article version published. One video or transcript asset created if the topic deserves it. One source-monitoring loop in place to see which domains AI actually cites for the prompt.
