Know Your Share of AI Recommendations
Being mentioned is good. Being recommended more than your competitors is better. Track your Share of Model across supported AI platforms with the right methodological caveats.
What is Share of Model and why does it matter?
Share of Model (SoM) is VectorGap's audit-derived estimate of how often your brand appears relative to tracked competitors. In the current implementation it is calculated from mentions found in completed audit responses: (Your Mentions / Total Tracked Mentions) Γ 100. It is best used as a directional benchmark across a consistent prompt set, not as a claim of complete market coverage.
Share of Voice = (Your Mentions / Total Mentions) Γ 100Absolute vs Relative
100 mentions sounds good. But if competitors have 400 mentions, you're losing 80% of recommendations.
Leading Indicator
Share of Voice predicts market share. If SOV > market share, you're likely to grow.
Actionable
Low SOV in specific categories? Focus content there. Competitor spike? Investigate and respond.
How does VectorGap visualize Share of Model?
VectorGap can visualize Share of Model through competitive share, trend, platform, and query-cluster views where sufficient audit coverage exists. Some comparison layers remain heuristic and should be interpreted as directional diagnostics.
