Adding Competitors

Set up competitor tracking to understand your relative AI perception.

Why Track Competitors?

Your BPI score matters, but context matters more. A score of 70 is excellent if competitors score 50. It's concerning if they score 85. Competitor tracking helps you: - Understand relative positioning - Identify what competitors do better - Find gaps where you can differentiate - Set realistic improvement targets

Adding Competitors

1. Navigate to **Competitive Intelligence** in your brand dashboard 2. Click **"Add Competitor"** 3. Enter the competitor name (as it appears in AI) 4. Optionally add their website URL 5. Click **"Add"** VectorGap will start tracking this competitor in your next audit.

Competitor Limits

Competitors per brand vary by plan: | Plan | Competitors/Brand | |------|-------------------| | Free | 0 | | Starter | 2 | | Growth | 5 | | Scale | 15 | | Enterprise | Unlimited | Choose competitors that directly compete for the same audience and appear in similar AI queries.

Choosing Competitors

Select competitors based on: **Direct competitors** Same product category, same target market **Aspirational competitors** Larger brands you want to compete with **Emerging competitors** Growing brands entering your space **Regional competitors** Brands that dominate in specific markets Avoid adding too many. Focus on 3-5 most relevant competitors for actionable insights.

What We Track

For each competitor, VectorGap monitors: - **BPI scores** across all metrics - **Mention frequency** in AI responses - **Positioning** relative to your brand - **Sentiment** in competitive contexts - **Strengths/weaknesses** AI perceives This data powers comparison reports and competitive alerts.
