Brand Setup Basics
Every brand in VectorGap needs a few key pieces of information:
**Required:**
- Brand name (as it appears in AI responses)
- Website URL
**Recommended:**
- Industry selection
- Brand description
- Key competitors
The more context you provide, the more accurate your hallucination detection and competitive analysis will be.
Brand Name Best Practices
Use the name people actually search for:
**Good examples:**
- "Notion" (not "Notion Labs, Inc.")
- "HubSpot" (not "HubSpot, Inc.")
- "Stripe" (not "Stripe Payments")
If your brand has multiple common names, create separate brand entries to track each variation. Enterprise plans support unlimited brands.
Website Verification
VectorGap uses your website to:
1. Auto-detect your brand description
2. Identify your industry
3. Crawl public pages for Knowledge Base suggestions
No verification code is required. We only read publicly accessible pages.
Industry Selection
Selecting the right industry enables:
- **Benchmark comparisons** against similar brands
- **Industry-specific queries** in audits
- **Relevant competitor suggestions**
If your industry isn't listed, choose the closest match. You can request new industries via support.
Brand Description
Your brand description helps VectorGap understand what you do. This is used for:
- Scoring accuracy (does AI get your core offering right?)
- Hallucination detection (does AI claim you do things you don't?)
- GEO content generation (grounded in your actual positioning)
Keep it factual: "B2B SaaS for project management" is better than "Revolutionary platform transforming how teams collaborate."
We auto-detect this from your website, but you can override it anytime in brand settings.
