Which directory the AIs cite in each language: Brussels, Luxembourg, Montréal

In Brussels, the AIs cite Golden Pages in English, Gouden Gids in Dutch and comparison sites in French. In Luxembourg, Editus in all three languages. The counts, by city, profession and language.

When an AI looks for a broker or an accountant on the web, it reads directories. Which ones? It depends on the language of the question. In Brussels, a customer who asks in English is sent to Golden Pages, in Dutch to Gouden Gids, in French to specialized comparison sites. Here are the counts.

The method in three lines

In September 2026, I asked 7 AIs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Mistral and DeepSeek) 8 buyer questions (“which insurance broker in Brussels?”), with web search on, in each language of the city. For each answer, I noted the sites cited as sources. The table gives the share of answers with a source that cite each directory, comparison site or platform, with the count in parentheses.

What I read. Golden Pages, the English edition of Pages d'Or, appears in 21% of the answers in English (10 of 47) and in 4% in French (2 of 49). Gouden Gids, the Dutch edition, appears in 22% of the answers in Dutch (9 of 41) and in no answer in English. In French, the AIs hardly read Pages d'Or: they read insurance comparison sites and a brokers' directory. One site alone holds all three languages, ceires.org, the directory of the brokers' association.

For a broker in Brussels, that means three listings to keep up to date, in three languages, with three different publishers. The Brussels page shows who appears in each language.

Luxembourg: the same directories, in all three languages

What I read. In Luxembourg, it is the opposite of Brussels. Editus, Switchr, Kompass and Angloinfo come back in all three languages for brokers; Editus, Fynd, Luxtoday and Revenuebase for accountants. The country's directories are themselves in three languages, and the AIs read the listing in the language of the question. Weicker & Co, a broker whose website exists only in French, still appears in 15% of the answers in German (8 of 53) and in 14% in English (7 of 50): its Editus listings exist in both languages, and Angloinfo lists it. The full rankings are on the Luxembourg page.

Montréal: two languages, two lists

What I read. For a broker in Montréal, one site alone is common to both languages, revenuebase.ai. In French, half of the answers with a source cite courtierweb.com (50%, 25 of 50). In English, it is bestinmtl.com (35%, 19 of 55). A broker who is on only one of the two exists for only half of the city. The counts by profession are on the Montréal page.

What a local business does with this

Search for your profession and your city in each language spoken there, with web search on, and note the directories the AI cites as sources.

Check your listing on each of them, in the language of the directory: address, services, language spoken. An empty listing, or one in the wrong language, is of no use.

In Brussels, keep the three editions of Pages d'Or (Pages d'Or, Gouden Gids, Golden Pages) and your listing in the directory of your profession. In Luxembourg, keep your Editus listing in all three languages. In Montréal, be on the French-language directory and on the English-language directory of your profession.

Measure again one month later. That is what the Snapshot does: the measurement, the actions, the second measurement 30 days later. The business rankings are on the page of each city.

The limits

One measurement per city, on a single day (24 September for Brussels and Luxembourg, 30 September for Montréal). The AIs' answers move from one day to the next: between two measurements, a gap of less than 15 points can come from the AIs' randomness alone.

The count covers the answers that give at least one source (39 to 55 per language, out of 50 to 56 answers received). An AI that does not cite its sources does not count.

The number of sources per answer varies a lot from one AI to the next: Grok often cites dozens of sites per answer, ChatGPT a few. The shares above count an answer once, however many times it cites the site.

I measured only two professions per city. The directories of other professions (dentists, lawyers, agencies) are not the same.
